The first was enquiries going missing. A service business pays for a website, the website does its job, and then the enquiry lands in an inbox alongside newsletters and receipts. Some get answered late, some get answered twice, and some never get answered at all. Each one was a customer who had already said what they needed and where they lived.

The second was the invoicing software itself. Much of it is designed around the needs of accountants and bookkeepers: ledgers, reconciliations, charts of accounts. Those tools are excellent at what they do, but a tradesperson standing next to a finished job needs something else. They need the customer’s details already filled in, their usual prices one tap away and a professional invoice, with their own tax settings applied, sent in seconds.

We wanted the shortest possible path from a form on a website to money in the bank. A customer fills in your form, their details appear in one list, you add the price, and they receive a professional invoice from your business name. From there, reminders, statements and tracking take care of the follow up.

Everything else in WhizInvoice serves that path: quotes with options and online signing for bigger jobs, jobs and a calendar to book the work, recurring invoices and repeating visits for regular rounds, customer statements for accounts customers, and reports to hand to your accountant.

WhizInvoice is not full accounting software, and we say so plainly. We do not do bank reconciliation, payroll or tax returns, and we do not sync with accounting packages. We can match a bank statement file to your open invoices, but that is not bookkeeping. If you have an accountant or an accounting system you like, keep them. WhizInvoice looks after the part before the books: enquiries, quotes, invoices and getting paid.

We are also not a payment processor. Money never passes through us, which keeps your cash flow in your own hands.

Service businesses exist in every country, so WhizInvoice is built to be set up for yours. Choose your country in Settings and your currency, tax name and rate, tax number label, date format and paper size follow on every invoice. Ready made settings cover Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Ireland, the United States, Canada, India, Singapore, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates, and any other country can be set up by hand. Local invoicing requirements vary, and some countries require invoices to go through a government e-invoicing system that WhizInvoice does not connect to yet, so check what applies to you.
