Bring your customers and prices in one file
Export a spreadsheet from your old app or your own records, upload it, match the columns, and your customers and price list are ready to invoice.
Start with the records you already have
Changing invoicing apps should not mean typing in every customer again. Whether your list lives in an accounting package, an invoicing app, an Excel workbook or a Google Sheet, it can almost always be saved as a CSV file, the plain spreadsheet format every program understands.
WhizInvoice reads that file and brings in your customers and prices, so on day one you can search for a regular customer and add their usual service without typing it again.
Moving from Fergus, Tradify, ServiceM8 or Jobber? Bring your customers, jobs and prices across together. Open jobs land on your board, finished ones stay on the customer’s history, and you can undo the whole import for 24 hours. This one is on every plan, Free too.
From file to first invoice
Get a CSV file
Export your customer list from your old app, or save your own spreadsheet as CSV. In Excel choose Save As, then CSV UTF-8. In Google Sheets choose File, Download, then Comma separated values.
Tidy it up
Keep one header row at the top and one customer per row. Remove duplicates and old test entries before you import, so your new list starts clean.
Upload and match columns
Upload the file and match each of your columns to a WhizInvoice field, such as name, email, phone, address, postcode or price.
Start invoicing
Your customers and prices are ready to use. Search for anyone by name, postcode, email or phone and invoice them straight away.
Example: matching your columns
- Client name
- Name
- E-mail address
- Mobile
- Phone
- Street address
- Address
- Post code
- Postcode
- Rate
- Price
Example only. The left column shows headings from a typical exported file, the right column the WhizInvoice field each one is matched to. Your file can keep its own headings.
Where your file can come from
Accounting software
Packages such as Xero, QuickBooks and MYOB can export contacts to a file. Our switch guides show the exact steps for each one.
Invoicing apps
Apps such as FreshBooks, Zoho Invoice and Invoice2go have their own export options, and we walk through them on the matching switch page.
Your own spreadsheet
If you have kept customers in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets, save the sheet as CSV and it is ready to import.
Your price list
A simple two column sheet of services and prices becomes your saved price list, so every service is one tap away when you invoice.
What comes across, and what stays behind
A spreadsheet import brings in your customers and prices. An import from a job tool also brings your jobs, with their old job numbers kept so you can find them. Past invoices stay in your old app, so before you close it, download a copy of your old invoices and keep them for as long as your tax office requires.
If you are moving from a particular tool, our switch guides give the exact export steps: Xero, QuickBooks, MYOB, FreshBooks, Invoice2go, Invoice Simple, Zoho Invoice and Wave.
No lock in, by design
We think the best reason to stay with an invoicing app is that it works for you, not that leaving is hard. That is why your data download is available on every plan, Free included, and why it stays available after you cancel. Read the full wording on our promise page.
Good to know
Which plans include import and export by CSV?
Customer and price imports and CSV export are part of Starter and every plan above it. Bringing your jobs, customers and prices across from Fergus, Tradify, ServiceM8, Jobber or another tool is on every plan, Free included.
Can I import an Excel file directly?
Save it as CSV first. In Excel use Save As and choose CSV UTF-8, which keeps names with accents and symbols intact.
My column headings do not match yours. Is that a problem?
No, you match each of your columns to a WhizInvoice field during the import, so your headings can stay as they are.
Can I bring my old invoices across?
The import is for customers and prices. Keep your past invoices in your old app or as downloaded copies for your records.
Can I get my data out again later?
Yes, you can download all your data at any time, including after you cancel a paid plan.
Move your customers across today
