For window cleaners

Window cleaning invoices without knocking for payment

A round is dozens of small amounts across many streets, and collecting them door to door eats the day. WhizInvoice, built for window cleaning invoicing, emails each customer a clear invoice, shows you who has opened it and chases politely until it is paid.

Where a window round leaks money

This page uses a UK example with VAT at 20%. Window cleaners elsewhere set their own country’s tax in Settings.

  • Cleaned while they were out

Most round customers are at work when you call. Instead of a note through the letterbox, they get an emailed invoice with your sort code and account number, ready to pay from their banking app.

  • Every four or eight weeks

Rain moves the day, so most rounds are billed as each street is done. Fixed contracts, like a shopfront every Monday, suit a recurring invoice on Solo.

  • Front only, front and back, conservatory

Every house has its own price, and the conservatory roof or the frames and sills come on top. Save each as a service so the right amount goes out every time.

  • Gutters, fascias and soffits

Add on jobs pay well but are easy to price badly from the top of a ladder. Quote them from the website enquiry and the accepted price carries straight through to the invoice.

  • Small balances that add up

A dozen customers each owing for one clean is a good day’s takings sitting in other people’s accounts. Owed, overdue and paid sit on one screen, and a monthly statement on Solo shows each customer their balance.

  • Commercial clients and VAT

Shops and offices need a proper VAT invoice before they can reclaim the VAT. With the United Kingdom set, your VAT number, the rate and the VAT total appear on every invoice.

From a quote request to a paid clean

  1. A new customer fills in your form

They give the address, the type of house and whether they want the back done too. It lands in one list, ready to price.

  2. Price it from your round

Pick the saved price for a three bed semi, add the conservatory, and the VAT is calculated for you.

  3. Send from the van

WhizInvoice works on your phone, so the invoice goes before you move on to the next street.

  4. Reminders do the knocking

If a clean is still unpaid on the due date, a polite reminder goes out for you, and the reminders end when the transfer lands.

Gutters, pressure washing and a second website

Some window cleaners also run gutter clearing or driveway cleaning under a separate name and website. Connect both and the enquiries meet in one list, or give each name its own logo and invoice numbering with Multi brand.

Questions

Good to know

Can I invoice round customers who are never home?

Each customer gets their invoice by email with your bank details on it, so they can pay by transfer from wherever they are. You can see who has opened it without knocking on a single door.

Do I have to charge VAT on window cleaning?

Only if you are VAT registered. If you are, window cleaning for homes and businesses alike is charged at the standard rate of 20%, and your VAT number goes on the invoice.

How do I bill a shop I clean every week?

Set up a recurring invoice on Solo and it goes out on its own. A monthly statement then shows the shop anything still owing.

Can I move my round across from a spreadsheet?

Solo imports customers and prices from a CSV file, so your round book, addresses and prices come across without retyping.

What if a customer says the windows were not done?

Attach a photo of the finished windows to the invoice on Solo. The customer sees the job was done, even though they were at work.
