Invoice2go is a long running invoicing app for small businesses and tradespeople, and a capable one. If its invoice limits or the price of unlimited invoicing no longer suit your business, here is an even handed comparison and the steps to move.
Why busy tradespeople look beyond Invoice2go
Invoice2go does plenty right. Estimates and clients are unlimited on every plan, there are apps for iPhone, Android and the web, customer statements are built in, and higher plans connect to QuickBooks and Xero.
The friction is the invoice count. On monthly billing in the US, Starter allows 2 invoices a month and Professional allows 5. Yearly plans allow 30 and 100 invoices a year. Unlimited invoices, and recurring invoices, come with Premium at US$44.99 a month. For a tradesperson finishing several jobs a week, that is the plan the business ends up needing.

What to know before you leave Invoice2go
If you rely on Invoice2go’s connection to QuickBooks or Xero, factor that in. WhizInvoice does not connect to or sync with Invoice2go or any accounting software, and it is not accounting software itself. Your accountant would receive your figures from WhizInvoice reports on Business or a CSV export on Starter and above.
Invoice2go is built as an app you download; WhizInvoice runs in your phone’s browser. Both let you invoice from the job, so try WhizInvoice on your own phone before you commit.
Move from Invoice2go in four steps
Export from the Invoice2go web app
Export is only available on the web version. Sign in on a computer, click your company name at the top right, open Account and settings, then Export data.
Choose clients, then items
Pick clients from the drop down and click Export. Invoice2go emails you a link to a compressed CSV file. Repeat with items to bring your price list.
Unzip and import
Unzip the files, then on WhizInvoice Starter or above upload them and match the columns to name, email, phone, address, postcode and price.
Country, tax and websites
Choose your country in Settings for currency and tax, then connect your websites so new enquiries land in your list.
A smooth changeover
Keep your old documents
Invoice2go’s export also covers invoices and estimates. Download them before your subscription ends and keep them with your records.
Recreate regular invoices
If you used recurring invoices on Premium, set each one up again on WhizInvoice Starter or above.
Card payments
Add your own Stripe, PayPal or Square payment link to WhizInvoice invoices, alongside your bank details. Payments land in your own account.

Does WhizInvoice sync with Invoice2go?
No, there is no connection between them. You export clients and items from Invoice2go’s web app and import them into WhizInvoice by CSV.
Can I export from the Invoice2go phone app?
Invoice2go’s help centre says data export is only available on its web version, so use a computer for this step.
Does WhizInvoice limit how many invoices I send?
No, every WhizInvoice plan, including Free, has unlimited invoices and customers.
Does WhizInvoice connect to QuickBooks or Xero like Invoice2go?
No, WhizInvoice does not integrate with accounting software. It provides reports on Business and CSV exports on Starter and above for your accountant.
Is there a WhizInvoice app to download?
No download is needed. WhizInvoice runs in your phone’s web browser, and you can add it to your home screen.
