Team chat

Talk about the job, right next to the job

Every job gets its own chat for the people on it, plus the owner and the office. Add a chat for everyone and direct messages, and work talk stops getting lost in personal group chats. On Starter and up.

Why not the group chat you already have

In a personal group chat, Tuesday’s gutter job sits between someone’s lunch order and last week’s roof. The photo of the leak is forty messages up, nobody is sure who read the new gate code, and when someone leaves the business, the history leaves on their phone.

Team chat keeps the talk with the work. Open a job and its chat is there, with only the people who need it, and everything stays in your business account.

Who is in each chat

Job chat
The people booked on that job, plus the owner and the office
Everyone
The whole team, for news that is not about one job
Direct message
Just the two of you

Team chat is for your own people. Customers never see it.

Small things that save a phone call

  • @mentions

Type @ and a name to make sure someone sees it. The owner and the office can use @everyone when it matters.

  • Photos land on the job

A photo posted in a job chat is also saved to that job’s photos, so it is there when the invoice is checked.

  • Seen by

Under the last message you see who has read it, so you know the new time got through without asking.

  • Honest edits

Change a message within 15 minutes and it shows Edited. Remove one and everyone sees Message removed.

  • Alerts that wait their turn

A phone alert arrives at once. If a message is still unread after 15 minutes, one email follows, at most one per chat each hour.

  • On the phone and the desk

Your team chats from the staff phone app, and the office from the dashboard. It is the same conversation in both places.

Quiet hours, your choice

A new business starts on quiet hours. Outside your working hours on the calendar, only @mentions send an alert, so a late message about tomorrow does not buzz everyone’s phone at dinner.

Prefer every message to alert at any time? Switch quiet hours off in Settings. Either way, everything is waiting in the chat the next time someone opens it.

Questions

Good to know

Which plans include team chat?

Every paid plan, from Starter. Starter is US$7.99 a month or US$59.88 a year, with up to 3 people, and Business has up to 10.

Can my customers see team chat?

No. Team chat is only for the people in your business. Your customers hear from you by email or WhatsApp, as they do now.

Do subcontractors and my accountant see the chat?

A subcontractor, on Business and up, sees only the chats of the jobs you give them, never the chat for everyone or direct messages. Your accountant has no team chat at all.

Who can use @everyone?

The owner and the office. Technicians can mention anyone by name.

Will messages wake my team at night?

Not on quiet hours, which is how a new business starts. Outside your working hours only @mentions alert. You can switch quiet hours off in Settings.

Do I need a separate app for chat?

No. Chat is part of WhizInvoice, on the phone your team already uses for their visits and in the dashboard for the office.
